maesio asked: Pigs are very clean creatures, all meat carries risk for disease/health problems. The reason pork is prohibited is most likely that it's wasteful to raise pigs in a desert environment & pigs can't survive desert conditions. They need to be penned in as they can't be herded, they require large amounts of water, they eat food that people eat... direct competition for resources people need so it's silly to waste those resources for a little bacon. Islam is all about conservation and against waste.
