5ever replied to your post: Pigs are very clean creatures, all meat carries risk for disease/health problems. The reason pork is prohibited is most likely that it’s wasteful to raise pigs in a desert environment & pigs can’t survive desert conditions. They need to be penned in as they can’t be herded, they require large amounts of water, they eat food that people eat… direct competition for resources people need so it’s silly to waste those resources for a little bacon. Islam is all about conservation and against waste.
actually, while pigs *are* clean, they are also host to lots of very bad parasites. In places like the UK & USA this isn’t a problem any more unless you eat organic pork (which is not given antibiotics).

Also, what I’ve heard is that pigs were also originally haram because they couldn’t be killed in the halal way. They way pig necks work, if you slit its throat it will not bleed out and so you will be drinking blood which is haram D:
are pigs the *only animals or are there more?
Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but you can eat anything except the meat of swine, blood, and anything that hasn’t been slaughtered in a permisible way with any other than Allah’s name said over it.
